With a wide range of devices to manage, administrators are challenged to find a single user interface

for local and remote serial, power, and KVM access to data center devices. Although this paper has

focused largely on serial console management, it is important to realize that virtual crash cart access

may need to extend to remote KVM and power management. For this reason, it is important to point

out that AVWorks management software is a comprehensive solution including remote KVM and

power management.

The illustration below shows how the Equinox CCM console management appliance can be

combined with the Avocent A1000R KVM over IP switch and intelligent SPC power controller to form

a virtual crash cart capable of restoring almost any failed system in the data center. When evaluating
